A Well-Deserved Break and a Community Growing Together

While schools here are gearing up for the start of a new school year, the students at Hope Infant School in Uganda have just wrapped up their mid-year exams and are heading into a well-deserved month-long break!

And you know what a school break means at Hope School: the construction crews are back at work! With many of the students away, our teams can make great progress on projects that are helping transform the school community.

During this break, we’ll continue the work we began in May, including painting the second-floor classrooms and moving new desks into their proper places. We’re also making plans to put two of the new classrooms to good use as temporary dormitories filled with 22 bunk beds until construction of the third floor is complete.

Before heading off for their break, the students had plenty of reasons to smile. They enjoyed Uganda’s beautiful summer weather while putting the sports equipment generously donated by the middle school students at St. Joe’s to good use. Just look at those smiles!

At the heart of this work is something bigger than new classrooms, desks, or buildings. It is about community, dignity, and creating opportunities for young people to learn and thrive. These values reflect Catholic Social Teaching, particularly our call to recognize the dignity of every person and to work together for the common good. When students, teachers, families, donors, and volunteers each contribute what they can, we see how much can be accomplished when a community comes together.

Your generosity is helping make that vision a reality at Hope School. The students and teachers are deeply grateful for your continued support and commitment to making their school and their lives better.

Thank you for being part of the Hope School journey. We’re excited to share more progress with you as the work continues!
