Summer break is over, and the students at Hope Infant School in Uganda are back in class. Thanks to your generosity, every child now has a brand-new uniform, fun shorts and t-shirts that they are absolutely thrilled to wear.
Â
This summer brought an unexpected twist to our building plans. In July, we learned that new regulations for school construction required us to delay our building project until December, when students will be on their eight-week break. While this was disappointing at first, the extra time will allow us to fully demolish the old building, lay a strong foundation, and construct a two of the three stories.
Â
In the meantime, we focused on urgent repairs. Over the years, heavy rains caused serious problems in the bathrooms, as water would quickly fill the pits and lead to overflow. (Think of them as like portable toilets you might see at large events.) During the August/September break, the construction crew rebuilt the bathrooms from the ground up, adding proper drainage and even more stalls for the students.
Â
Every step forward at Hope Infant School is made possible because of you! Your kindness is woven into every uniform, every repaired bathroom stall, and every brick that will soon rise into a new building. We are deeply grateful.
